Groups are an integral part of the Cancer Wellness Center. They provide those diagnosed with cancer and their loved ones opportunities to share, learn, and gain support from others who are going through similar experiences. Current research indicates that regular attendance in a group has been shown to improve quality of life.

DEDICATED GROUPS

The dedicated groups, facilitated by the Center’s clinical staff, provide a safe environment for discussing and exploring the concerns and emotions of living with a cancer diagnosis. Participants have the opportunity to discuss issues related to treatment, living with cancer, coping strategies, life after cancer…anything related to their cancer journey. The focus of the following groups is on the life-altering impact of a cancer diagnosis. Because this experience is common to all types of cancer, the groups are mixed diagnosis except for the Ovarian Cancer Group.

Terminology:
Cancer survivors are anyone with a cancer diagnosis – newly diagnosed, in treatment or post-treatment
Significant others are family members, friends, and/or caregivers of the cancer survivor
