Designed to address the emotional distress associated with a cancer diagnosis, the Center's Support Services offer participants a milieu in which to develop and strengthen coping strategies, bolster social support, and broaden their social networks. All services provided by the Center's professional clinical staff, which is comprised of psychologists, counselors and social workers.
Bereavement counseling is also available for people who have lost a loved one to cancer.
In the Cancer Wellness Center’s personalized programs, participants meet one-on-one with a counselor for a limited number of sessions to learn tips for successfully navigating a cancer diagnosis, techniques for managing stress and strategies for coping with the emotional impact of a cancer diagnosis. The Center’s oncology dietitian provides nutrition recommendations, tailored to the unique needs of the individual, that cover a broad range of topics including how best to treat side effects; optimizing nutrient rich food choices; risks versus benefits of dietary supplements; and weight management. Individual appointments are available for those who are currently in treatment or are within two years post-treatment.
