SUMMARY:Forest Therapy for Those Impacted by Cancer
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the Bunker Hill Forest Preserve\, Chicago\, for a mi
ndful\, sensory forest therapy experience to re-connect to nature\, ourselv
es and each other. We will give our thinking brains a break\, and tune into
our senses and notice what's around us and inside us with curiosity and co
mpassion.\n\nOpen to those impacted by cancer\, their loved ones\, and thos
e bereaved. This is a special one-time FREE offering thanks to the Forest P
reserves of Cook County Connecting People to Nature Program.\n\nNature and
Forest Therapy Guide Sarah Abu-Absi (of That Forest Feeling) will lead us i
n a 2-hour forest therapy experience\, in collaboration with Cancer Wellnes
s Center staff.\n\nStudies show that forest therapy (aka forest bathing) pr
ovides a wide range of benefits for our physical and mental health\, includ
ing improved immunity\, nervous system regulation\, improved mood\, mental
clarity\, attention span\, creativity and more. But so many other benefits
can arise when we slow down and tend to our relationship with nature in the
present moment -- the possibilities are endless.\n\nProgram will include:\
n- overview of forest therapy and group introductions\n- guided sensory med
itation (sitting or laying down on the ground)\n- invitations to engage wit
 h nature in different mindful\, sensory\, playful\, or heart-centered ways\
n- opportunities to share with each other what we are noticing.\n\nIt is a
very gentle\, open-ended practice that participants are encouraged to adapt
to suit their needs and preferences.\n\nWe don't walk far at all -- we wil
l be moving very slowly and sometimes not at all. We invite you to wear com
fortable\, layered clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty if you sit
on the ground\, and/or to bring something to sit or lay on like a towel\, b
lanket or chair.\n\nProgram registration will be handled through Sarah's we
bsite. Please register HERE    An email sent after registration will incl
ude a map link and directions to the location.\n\nTo learn more about Sarah
