DESCRIPTION:From the day you received your diagnosis or the diagnosis of a 
 loved one you have probably traveled through many emotions and thoughts con
 cerning what lies ahead\, for yourself and your loved ones.\n\nThrough the 
 somatic understanding that your mind affects your body while your body affe
 cts your mind we’ll dive into how things such as stress\, anxiety\, fear\
 , pain and trauma affect you emotionally and physically in often unexpected
  ways. Ways that affect who you are and how you physically and emotionally 
 feel and experience the world.\n\nYou’ll learn practical Mind/Body approa
 ches designed to be used throughout your day\, including gentle movement ex
 periments\, body awareness techniques\, breathing\, meditation\, embodiment
 \, the principles of aikido\, mindfulness\, as well as many other somatic m
 ovement & education skills.\n\nPresented by: Richard Sims\, MSME\, MSMT\, C

 n\nProgram Dates: Thursdays\, June 18\, 25\, July 2\, 9\, 16\, 23\, 30 Augu
 st 6\n\nAttendance at all sessions is recommended but not an absolute neces
 sity.\n\nLimit of 15 participants.\n\nParticipants will have the voluntary 
 option to participate in an ongoing self-reporting study\, run in conjuncti
 on with Dr. John Lothes\, M.A. LPA\, Ed.D. of the UNCW College of Health an
 d Applied Human Science that will look into the impact Rich\, and these pro
 grams have on those affected by Cancer. This is aimed at helping with the c
 ontinued development and research into the Somatic approaches that have hel
 ped so many at the Cancer Wellness Center and other places Rich shares his 
 work. Your involvement in the study is kindly requested but not mandatory.
