Maple Syrup Tapping 101

Join us at Ryerson Woods in Riverwoods to learn the decades old tradition of maple tapping. In this program, participants will first meet inside for a short lesson on trees, sap and syrup sampling. After, we will go outside to visit drilling practice stations, check the buckets on the trees, and end at the farm area where participants will learn the science behind how the Lake County Forest Preserve staff turn sap into real maple syrup.
