Professional Help for People with Cancer & Their Loved Ones
You don’t have to go through a cancer diagnosis alone. Professional counseling from clinicians who are specifically trained to support people living with cancer and their loved ones can help you process these changes and find a way forward.

Professional Counseling Options

Newly Diagnosed Consultation
Receiving a cancer diagnosis upends your entire existence, and you may not know what you need or want at first. This two-session program helps you navigate issues like how to talk to friends and family and what support you need. Our experienced team can also recommend other helpful services, including nutrition and wellness support.

One-On-One Counseling
Individual counseling sessions allow you to process your emotions and thoughts about your unique experience. You can work on issues including managing anxiety about treatment, facing fears about the future, working through grief, and more. Your professional counselor will give you tools and techniques to help you face whatever you are experiencing.

Family Counseling
A cancer diagnosis doesn’t just affect individuals; it impacts the entire family, including children at every age and life stage. In family counseling sessions, our licensed and trained clinicians can help you understand your existing family dynamics, improve communication, address shifting roles, and help everyone feel heard during an incredibly stressful time.

Couples Counseling
A cancer diagnosis can dramatically affect your relationship. You and your partner may face fears, cope with shifting responsibilities, deal with physical changes, and need to manage treatment schedules. This “new normal” can bring up anxiety, guilt, and resentment that can be hard to share with your partner. Our therapists can help you navigate these changes by facilitating conversations and helping you reconnect when cancer threatens to push you apart.

Services for Children & Teens
Children and teens need developmentally appropriate support to cope with a cancer diagnosis, either for themselves or a loved one. Our certified Child Life Specialist offers customized support, including age-appropriate therapeutic play for younger children. Children and teens learn to express difficult emotions, develop coping strategies, and build resilience. Available to children ages five and older.

Bereavement Counseling
If you’ve lost someone to cancer, you can get professional support to cope with your grief and the complicated emotions that accompany the loss of a loved one. You may be feeling overwhelmed, sad, angry, guilty, or alone–or all of these things at once. Our therapists can help you understand that your feelings are normal, offer strategies for managing current challenges, and create space to honor your loss while also looking toward the future to explore how to move forward.
