2023 CWC Impact Award Honoree: Dr. Dean Tsarwhas

For the first time, the Cancer Wellness Center will be presenting the “Impact Award” at our annual Better Together Benefit.

The award recognizes community leaders that have joined the Center in their important work – improving the emotional and physical well-being of people affected by cancer.

The CWC Impact Award honors an individual, couple, or organization that has made a deep impact on our community through their leadership, civic and philanthropic contributions to the Cancer Wellness Center.

We are proud to introduce our inaugural recipients: Dr. Bruce Brockstein and Dr. Dean Tsarwhas.

Dr. Dean Tsarwhas

We are delighted to honor Dr. Dean Tsarwhas with the CWC Impact Award for his leadership and support of those with a cancer diagnosis. Dr. Tsarwhas is the Medical Director of Cancer Services for Northwestern Medical Group, working to provide expert care and improving the lives of those facing cancer. He has been in practice in the northern suburbs of Chicago for more than 30 years and has held various leadership roles at the hospitals where he worked.

Most recently, Dr. Tsarwhas was Chief of the Medical Staff at Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. Dr. Tsarwhas’ many achievements throughout his career include his medical service in Uganda and Tanzania as well as being named one of the Top Medical Oncologists in 2012 and Top Cancer Specialists in 2019-2023 by Chicago Magazine. He has been published in multiple journals and is a regular presenter and lecturer at medical symposiums both locally and nationally.

For more than a decade, Dr. Tsarwhas and Northwestern Medicine have joined the Cancer Wellness Center in our mission to improve the emotional and physical well-being of people impacted by cancer. Dr. Tsarwhas could not have accomplished all that he has done in his career without the help and support of his loving wife Amy and their three children.
