2025 CWC Impact Award Honoree: Dr. Sigrun Hallmeyer
Honoring Dr. Sigrun Hallmeyer
Dr. Sigrun Hallmeyer was born in East Berlin, Germany and escaped to West Germany at the age of 18 where she studied medicine. Dr. Hallmeyer moved to the United States in 1999 to begin clinical training in Internal medicine, followed by a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the University of Illinois in Chicago, IL.
Today, Dr. Hallmeyer is the medical director for Advocate Lutheran General Hospital’s (ALGH) Cancer Survivorship Center which she founded in 2013 – the first free-standing hospital affiliated center of its kind in Illinois. She is also a practicing medical oncologist focused on breast cancer, melanoma, and immuno-oncology, and serves as the attending physician and a key teaching faculty member for the hematology/oncology fellowship program at ALGH. Dr. Hallmeyer assumed the position of Director of the Cancer Service Line at ALGH in January 2019 and is the medical co-director for oncology research within the Advocate Aurora Research Institute. She is currently the president-elect of the ALGH Medical Staff.
Throughout her distinguished career, Dr. Hallmeyer has made a meaningful and deep impact on the lives of thousands of cancer patients and their loved ones. Dr. Hallmeyer, along with Advocate Health Care have been important and dedicated partners in supporting the mission of the Cancer Wellness Center supporting the mental health and emotional well-being of individuals and families as they navigate the complexities of a cancer diagnosis. Inspired by her work in the cancer community, we are thrilled to present Dr. Hallmeyer with the CWC Impact Award for her leadership and ongoing commitment to making a difference in the lives of cancer patients.
Dr. Hallmeyer lives with her husband Mike Milaniak in Prospect Heights, where they raised 3 children now age 20, 18 and 16.
