Riverwoods, IL 60015
Join us at Ryerson Woods for an immersive introduction to the time‑honored tradition of maple syrup tapping.
The program begins indoors with a short, hands-on lesson about local trees, how sap is produced, and a sampling of fresh maple syrup. Participants will then head outside to visit drilling practice stations, check sap buckets on the trees, and explore the farm area. The experience concludes with a behind‑the‑scenes look at how Lake County Forest Preserve staff transform raw sap into authentic maple syrup using modern and traditional methods.
