Our CWC team has been out in the community, connecting with incredible people and supporting our community partners! From health fairs and expos to conferences, we’ve been busy. Some of our recent highlights include:
Cancer Survivors Day at Lutheran General

Cancer Wellness Center joined the Cancer Survivorship Center at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital for a Cancer Survivors Day celebration. The event brought together survivors, families, caregivers, and supporters to share stories of strength, resilience and celebrate the journey of survivorship together.

Black Family Wellness Expo

We participated in the third annual Black Family Wellness Expo, organized by the North Shore chapter of The Links, Inc., one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer women’s service organizations. This event was part of a nationwide initiative, with Links chapters across the country hosting similar gatherings to promote physical, mental, and financial wellness in their communities. The Expo offered a wide range of free services including yoga, health screenings, financial literacy classes and access to community resources.

ChicagoCHEC Community Forum

We were delighted to join the 9th Annual ChicagoCHEC Community Forum, “Nothing About Us Without Us: Community-Driven Cancer Solutions.” The event brought together over 100 attendees from across Chicago for a day of meaningful connection and learning. Highlights included a vibrant resource fair with 15+ community organizations and engaging sessions led by experts and community members with lived experience in cancer care and prevention.

IAFCC Annual Conference

Illinois Association of Free and Charitable Clinics (IAFCC) held its 2025 Annual Conference on March 24–25 at the Tinley Park Convention Center. We were honored to be invited to participate in this statewide gathering that brought together leaders, providers, volunteers, and stakeholders from Illinois’ network of free and charitable clinics for two days of connection, learning, and celebration.

Aging in Mount Prospect: What Families Need to Know

The Village of Mt. Prospect’s Aging in Community event brought together older adults and families for a local resource fair and insightful presentation on navigating the aging journey.
City of Hope Celebrate Life Survivorship Fair

City of Hope’s Survivorship Fair honored survivors reaching their 5+ year milestone at the annual Celebrate Life event.
Imerman Angels Brunch Run

A day of fun, celebration and community alongside Chicago’s beautiful lakefront. We run, we walk, and we brunch so no one faces cancer alone.
DePaul University Wellness Field Day

We participated in this event on Depaul’s campus. The event promoted physical and mental health awareness to help folks recharge, reconnect, and refocus on well-being.
HANA Career & Resources Fair

Organizations from across Chicagoland came together to share valuable resources and information with one another in a lively, engaging atmosphere.
Connections for the Homeless Block Party

Evanston’s annual celebration featured Family Fest at Twiggs Park with music, games, pony rides, and free food. The event brought neighbors together to share resources and support the mission to end homelessness.
Rep. Sanalitro/Senator Lewis Senior Expo

Nearly 50 organizations dedicated to supporting older adults and their caregivers came together for this event, offering seniors a one-stop hub for connection, care, and community empowerment.
Northwest Center Hoops in the Hood All-Star Day

We participated in the Northwest Center’s Hoops in the Hood All Star Day! The event began with various community partners sharing resources, and culminated in a friendly basketball game between community leaders and the Northwest Center’s youth basketball team.
¡Vive tu Vida! Health Fair 2024

Families came together to UIC’s campus for a day filled with sports, dance, free health screenings, and healthy living resources.
Hoffman Estates Older Adult Resource Fair

Participated in a day of community connection featuring health screenings, interactive activities, and valuable resources for older adults, caregivers, and families.
Dr. Gary Kruh Cancer Research Symposium

We participated in this event centered around learning, networking and innovation at the forefront of cancer research.
Self-Care Health Fair with Senator Johnson and St. Rep. Mayfield

We participated in this community event focused on mental wellness, part of a broader initiative to make mental health care accessible and affirm the importance of self-care
Lurie Cancer Center + Medical Organization for Latino Advancement: LHS+ Cancer Care Disparities Educational Workshop

LHS+ Cancer Care Disparities Educational Workshop: We attended this event which brought together healthcare professionals, researchers, and advocates committed to addressing cancer disparities in the Latino/a/e, Hispanic, and Spanish-speaking communities.
Roberti Community House Kidney Event & Resource Fair

Hosted in partnership with the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois and Associates in Nephrology, we connected with Waukegan residents to provide resources and information to the community.
I AM ABLE Road To Wellness on Roosevelt Event

We connected with the the Chicago Community at I AM ABLE Center’s and WELLNESS H.E.A.L,S,’ annual Road to Wellness Event. Roosevelt Road came alive with resource tables, health services, and local organizations dedicated to supporting total wellness.
Moraine Township’s Latino Advisory Committee Community Resource Fair

Hosted by the Latino Advisory Committee, we participated in this local community resource fair to provide our neighbors with resources, raffles, and information.
Mano a Mano 2024 Back to School Resource Fair

Families enjoyed free supplies, health screenings, and performances at this community celebration.
Park Ridge Community Health Fair

Held at Hodges Park, this event promoted wellness and community connection with health screenings, fitness fun, kids’ activities, raffles, and more.
Waukegan Township Health & Wellness Fair

Held at the Patricia Jones Center in Waukegan, this free event offered health education plus access to testing, vaccines, and other local health resources to support community wellness.
LUCERO Breast Cancer Awareness Event

CWC Clinical Associate Nora Barquin presented at this community event hosted by LUCERO (Latinos United for Cancer Education, Research and Outreach) focused on breast cancer screenings, self-care, and survivor stories.
Golden Years Wellness Expo

Organized by the Prospect Heights Park District, we participated in this lively and welcoming event celebrating health, connection, and community for active adults and seniors.
UNITE For HER - Chicago Wellness Orientation

We supported Unite for HER in their orientation program to support breast and ovarian cancer patients in a supportive space to explore integrative therapies, meet care providers, and build personalized wellness plans.
Project VIDA + Chicago Department of Public Health: Latiné/x Health Summit

Latiné/x Health Summit: CWC provided resources and materials at this event, the nation’s first health summit for Latiné/x gay, bisexual, and SGL men. The summit fostered connection and community under the powerful theme: Unity Strengthens Us.
Lutheran Social Services Mental Health Fair

We participated in LSSI’s event which brought together local leaders and organizations to share resources and explore vital mental health resources offered by LSSI.
Help at Home Community Resources Fair

Provided support and services to families in need.
Breakthrough Wellness Fair

From fitness and art-making to wellness resources and raffles, this annual event on the Westside of Chicago brought neighbors together to celebrate National Wellness Week.
