Recent studies suggest maintaining healthy weight and physical activity are the most important lifestyle factors for reducing cancer recurrence risk. Frequently, weight gain is an overlooked side effect of cancer treatments and losing it poses unique challenges for survivors. Our relationship with food is often a complicated one involving customs, habits and beliefs that interfere with the desire to maintain or lose weight.
In this group, clinical counselor Deborah Kronenberger will address the behavioral and emotional aspects of this challenge while oncology dietitian Lori Bumbaco will address the specific nutritional components. This group is limited to cancer survivors who are within 5 years post treatment.
