Fall, the Giving Season…

Written By: Nancy Bulzoni

As the leaves begin to turn, and the days get chillier, for most of us this signals the start of autumn.  For me, as the Executive Director of the Cancer Wellness Center, it also signals the start of the most wonderful time of the year, the giving season.  As I have steered this organization the past 8 years, I have a front row seat to witness the incredibly generous hearts who support our mission each and every day, and especially at the year-end.

People are often surprised our services are offered at no-cost to those impacted by cancer.  This is not only because cancer treatment can be financially difficult, but more importantly, it is core to our mission, it is how it has been from the very beginning and how we want it to always be.  There are more than enough challenges for those navigating cancer, the Center rejects adding to the burden.

Instead, we rely on our community of friends and donors, whose numbers continue to grow.  Ordinary people, who chose to make an extraordinary impact and are dedicated to helping those living with cancer.  WE can build program and services, support cancer patients, and even achieve moments of peace and hope for those patients and their families.  But we cannot force philanthropy.  This comes from YOU, and it comes from YOUR heart.

I have no doubt, as this giving season unfolds, I will be inspired once again by the generosity of those who share our mission.  As you consider your giving this season, I hope you will join our caring community who so value the vitally needed programs and services of the Cancer Wellness Center.
