Virtual: Mindful Kitchen: Optimizing Immunity Through a Healthy Lifestyle

Join Lori, our Oncology Dietitian, and Michelle Mattero, Clinical Associate, in this five part series that explores how a mindfulness and nutritious food can work together for a healthy lifestyle. Each session will have a separate focus:
Session 1: How Stress Impacts Health
Students will learn about how chronic unconscious and conscious stressors affect us mind and body. What systems of the body are impacted and how? How is quality of life impacted and why is this important?
Session 2: The SAD Diet and Its Impact on Health and Well-Being
Lori will introduced you to the SAD Diet (Standard American Diet), its evolution and how we Americans got to be so unhealthy through our food choices. We will explore the no-win situation that the food industry has set up for us.
Session 3: Thinking Peacefully – Introduction to Mindfulness for Peaceful Living.
Students will learn how mindful nutrition habits improve heath. We will introduce the concept of Food as a Self-Care Tool.
Session 4: Immunity Enhancing Food
Join us as Lori introduces foods that are the most powerful tools to enhance nutrition and immune function
Session 5: Cooking Demo – 2 hour class
In this class Lori will bring together the concepts discussed in the previous sessions with a practical cooking demonstration.

Attendance to all sessions is highly recommended. Session dates are September 27, October 11, October 25, November 8 and November 22.
*** Please note the final session will last two hours, from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm to accommodate the two hour cooking demonstration.
*Registration closes at 2:00pm September 27st.
