Session dates are: Fridays, July 8, 22, 29, and August 5 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm
Limited to 15 participants.
Week One: Developing Attention & Concentration
In this session, series participants will learn the basics of mindfulness meditation. They will gain an understanding of what mindfulness is, how it interrupts the stress cycle, and why it strengthens our quality of attention and awareness. Participants will also learn a simple, yet powerful basic mindfulness technique.
Week Two: Developing Wise Attention of the Body
This week we will learn the benefits of developing a wise attention of the body. When we learn to repeatedly bring our attention to the body, it helps to balance the tendency to “live in our heads” and be driven by stress. During this session, participants will also be guided through body-based mindfulness practices.
Week Three: Developing Wise Attention of Thoughts & Emotions
Not only are we hard-wired for negative thinking, we often let positive emotions and moments slip by without much notice. During this session, participants will learn the science of the “negativity bias;” steps for how to skillfully respond to our head and heart-space with a greater sense of kindness and compassion; and a science-backed way to cultivate greater happiness.
Week Four: Developing Self-Kindness & Compassion
In this session, participants will learn how self-kindness and compassion relate to mindfulness, and will be guided through proven techniques known to cultivate these important qualities
